Don't want to give it away, but I think someone got a little hosed.

The out of bounds reversal or the non escape call at the end or both?

Shame to lose like that, two very tough calls...he kept his composure though, I think he wins in the national finals !

out of call reversal was B.S.  Still had a leg in/merkel control essentially.  Sad to see that even at the highest levels reffing is so subjective sometimes.

After watching again, I think it should have been OT.

I dislike to be a homer, but that was just bad.
I started out with nothing and still have most of it left.

Not completely clear on the rule, shouldn't Dake have had to return DT to the mat to establish legitimate control for the reversal.  Pausing through the sequence, at the moment Dake locked around DT's upper body he was completely out of bounds and only DT had one foot still in bounds.

Nevermind... heres the rule from the NCAA Guide

A reversal occurs when the defensive wrestler comes from the bottom/defensive

position and gains control of the opponent, either on the mat or in a rear-standing

position. For the purpose of awarding reversal points at the edge of the wrestling

area, points shall be awarded when control is established while any part of either

wrestler remains in bounds.

As for the potential escape at the end... DT probably should have been awarded it... put the match in OT and let the wrestlers sort it out...

A defensive wrestler is awarded an escape when the offensive wrestler loses

control of the opponent while any part of either wrestler remains in bounds. An

escape may be awarded while the wrestlers are still in contact.

I thought the reversal was the right call, but I also think there was an escape at the end--after riding time was erased--and the match should have gone to OT.

I agree. I think Dake got the reversal at the edge. He ended up in a merkel position. But it looked to me that Taylor got the escape before time expired.. Should have gone to OT.
