| If Lee returns, and why wouldn't he, and PSU figures out 149 (Bartlett grows into) and 165 (Facundo shrinks) they could have 10 AAs next year and Iowa's 1 year rental of the team trophy will be over. Seriously, Iowa has some work to do. I think Marinelli is likely done and does Kemerer really come back for a 7th year? They're just not good enough at the other weights. On top of that Sanderson/Cunningham/Sanderson are far better tacticians and give their guys better chances to win. The job they did with RBY in preparing for Fix and the ability to turn around the results for Lee and Starocci is amazing. Its funny how a PSU wrestler loses the first match up and then wins the next and goes on to dominate after. Coaching! |

One thing about PSU is they have the ability to adapt to the other wrestler's style. Their strategy in the matches is on a different level. The previous group was all about scoring all the time. This group tends to be more focused on controlling the tempo and flow of the bouts. The coaching staff is really good at tapping the individual strengths of their wrestlers and getting their mindset right. They have a way of getting the most out of their kids. I am really interested to watch the development of Howard and Berge going forward since they are not the most talented guys at their weights, but the coaches will help them reach their potential. ------------- Win or lose, do it with class! |

I heard a weird statistic and so I looked it up. It's true. Since 2016, Penn State is 24-1 in the NCAA semi-finals. They really know how to strategically plan for those big bouts. The Nits gameplan for their next bout at Nationals, while the other programs seem to take things as they come. For example, in the same period, Iowa is 9-8 in semi-final bouts. That's kind of what you might expect, just looking at the vagaries of seeding, laws of chance, injuries, upsets. Probably most programs feel pretty happy pushing 50% of their semi-finalists into the finals. Not good enough for Penn State. They have a 96% success rate in the semi's. Why would top talent go anywhere else? |

OC if you want to become a world or Olympic champion odds are your chances are better at Iowa with Tom Brands and or of course John Smith at Okie State. Cael Sanderson's great at collegiate not at winning world championships. The top dogs if that's their ultimate goal to get to the top of the world threshold and peek from that roof instead of national many top talent aspires for a global worldwide vantage point. One guy wins it and most of the world Olympic champions are Muslim at this point so better figure out something else to do rather than just do what you're doing right now because it seems like they're getting better and the US is staying the course they've only won one world championship in the last 26 years. |

How many wrestlers every decade actually have a legit chance at becoming an Olympic champion? A handful? Two handfuls? I guarantee you more Americans will know Spencer Lee from Iowa than Spencer Lee in the Olympics. ESPN is broadcasting that, Olympic wrestling is on at 3 am on NBC RandomSports Network. Penn State simply gets it done when it matters most. Iowa has a bunch of mental midgets, outside of Spencer (who's more of an ACL midget). Tho if I had a wrestler with a strong back, I might send him to OK State to get on that 665 deadlift program.

I may be missing something but who under Tom/Terry Brands has won an Olympic/World Title? Gilman = 2nd & 5th, Dennis/Ramos/Metcaff = DNP's all. Were the brands coaching HWC when Zadick won gold in 06? John Smith hasn't had much success in recent times as a coach at the senior level. JO hasn't ever make the team. Fix = DNP, Colman Scott = 3rd all the way back in 2012. Cael/Cunningham has put more guys on the World Team then the two you mentioned. Taylor = Gold, Varner = Gold, Molinaro/Zain/Ruth = DNP's. The most successful Senior level coaches within the last decade are probably Roselli with Synder/Stieber/Delagnev multi placer/Golds etc and then Manning/Snyder at Neb. with JB and Green. Koll/Grey also had more success as a coach then the Brands

CoachReils great data points. The person that has the most World Olympic championships if I were a top recruit I would lean towards that direction on where to matriculate get it matriculate LOL That was the main bullet point I was trying to point out & convey. However you bring up some very good reasons for those other schools. I enjoyed your gathering of athletes paired with their specific coach and individual accolades. |

Overall the problem Penn State is overinflated egos Cael creates national champions national champions not world. 8 time Valentine's Foxcatcher the main line with Malvern prep shows you again how that area can focus on a goal achieve it & go to the top at any level. Cael & DT won their Olympic and world titles respectively under skeptical clouds whereas Foxcatcher with multiple world championships. Foxcatcher Hall of Fame Penn State minor leagues end of story. Cael needs to recruit a Russian because his technical skills in freestyle are not going to help NLWC anywhere anytime soon. The wrestling world listens to people like Willie Saylor graduating from Easton to call himself the brain the real brains are down on the mainline the best athletes in the state not even a close call. The two books written by John Dupont "Off The Mat" & "Never Give Up" should be at the top of Cael Sanderson's reading list this summer. A really clear way of looking at it would be comparing the careers of Kevin Jackson from Iowa State vs Cael Sanderson from Iowa State. Foxcatcher's Kevin Jackson placed runner-up at the NCAA's however he won two world championships an Olympic championship which outweighs Cael Sanderson's 4 national championships and 1 Olympic championship which he may have paid off for Cuban for so it's not even close. It's very conspicuous Foxcatcher's Kevin Jackson had a better career than Cael Sanderson. KJ also had Dave Schultz as a wrestling coach too obviously. National championships NCAA championships are far cry from a world or Olympic freestyle championships. Primarily Muslim countries are wrestling freestyle they're not wrestling NCAA. Let's get the facts straight change the styles female male freestyle one style more fans equals more success summer 21 a new beginning. |

Donger it's about development of world and Olympic championships. How many has Cael coached? Dan Gable had more of his wrestlers do better internationally & WIN NCAA. Not blaming Cael but there is a ton of catch up work to do overall for the US. |

1993 first time we won the world championships as a country. The reason you might be intrigued to know is that the tactical expertise passion for the sport plus top genetics coupled with pristine discipline allowed that to happen in a very short window. The wrestling program is one of the arms of the parent club Foxcatcher. The Foxcatcher wrestling program specifically starting in 1986-1996. Culminating in the greatest martial artists ever assembled in one spot. Hard to think it happened right there in Newtown Square PA part of the Main Line. Student-athletes along the R5 trainline are the height achievers in the state there's not a close second in the Keystone State. |

It's my night to cook for my old lady so I need to keep this short sweet & to the point. I can give examples to where it's ridiculously one-sided technique favor Foxcatcher. 3 Foxcatcher wrestlers Mark/ Dave Schultz & Valo can not be ignored. All three are geniuses. Foxcatcher's John Fisher beat John Smith ALSO Foxcatcher's Matt Demaray beat Russia's Saitiev at the 94 World Cup https://youtu.be/l9g0xni5DgY" rel="nofollow - https://youtu.be/l9g0xni5DgY JS & BS have won six or more world titles and Matt nor John were on any US World Teams. That's how neck-deep boxcatcher (the nickname sometimes given to the male Foxcatcher athletes because there were so many pretty females walking around that thousand acres called Foxcatcher Farms) was Cael Sanderson would be 5th on the ladder at 180.5 had he wrestled in the era. Heck maybe move up to 4th but he's not in my opinion you got veterans that could wrestle on their feet where CS is more of a collegiate folkstyle top bottom guy. |

Villanova should bring the wrestling program back & recruit almost exclusively from Malvern Prep. Within five years Villanova could beat the snot out of Penn State and Cael Sanderson because the student-athletes on the Main Line are just superior. Remember folks the Main Line is the oldest part of the state. It's where 90% of PA history is associated with Philadelphia Valley Forge. Wisdom wisdom wisdom more wisdom. Penn State was established 200 years after the Main Line. Even in football Villanova could recruit primarily from a few schools like St. Joe's & beat Penn State Football. Penn State refuses to get good at basketball. PSU is not even in the top 30. Something is up with that with all the resources you would think they would do a better job but it's not just resources its intellectual capital and doing things in the most efficient effective manner. Of course Villanova would have to recruit from more than just Malvern Prep and Saint Joe's to win national championships in wrestling football add basketball. Put proper coaches in place heck Neshaminy's James Franklin never even played D1 football. How many students does Villanova have versus Penn State? Its quality over quantity just like Foxcatcher over NLWC you'll see if you haven't already noticed the difference between NCAA & OLYMPIC championships. Berwyn, have you taken any facts into account with your love of Main Line wrestling? Do you realize that back in the Foxcatcher days there was zero financing for USA wrestling, Dupont was the only game in town so all the best wrestlers ended up there. Not because John DuPont was a great guy, only because he was paying the bills. Today there are Olympic training centers for wrestlers all over the country...PA, NY, IA, etc,....the wrestlers train where they are most comfortable with the coaches they like. Foxcatcher ain't coming back.

The French method The French connection the French technique whatever word you want glazed over Foxcatcher. Maybe it's determination discipline loyalty wrapped up in one organization. One tragic episode cannot deter the total accolades accomplishments of The Main Line's Foxcatcher Farm. Sunkist was in existence with John Smith Kenny Monday Bruce Baumgartner was with NYAC Foxcatcher is great at anything it gets involved with because technically the DuPont's historically have always been at the top of the game. Whether it was gunpowder athletics stocks you name it they ascend to the top of the heap. I feel dumber for just responding to this and there's a lot to unpack in these silly mainline/foxcatcher posts but start with this: I'm sure Villanova has heard of St Joes. There's nothing to stop them from recruiting there. And Villanova is on Penn States football schedule this year so we can see where the 2 programs are in football in just a couple of months.
The Foxcatcher model was unrealistic and unsustainable despite it's success (which literally everyone is aware of). Foxcatcher farm is a housing development today. It's never returning and there is no mentally ill sugar daddy with a mommy complex right around the corner to try something similar. Honestly, why you would tout the successes of a killer is bizarre. What's next, an essay on how intelligent Ted Kaczynski was? |

Again guys do due diligence go read the depositions the court proceedings at Delaware County Court House. The one well-known fact is Dave Schultz had an affair with Trina Radke a Germantown high school swimmer who lived on the farm with Dave graduating in 1989. She actually made the Olympic team in 88 as a junior going to Germantown Academy. Dave Schultz was dating Trina Radke right up to his murder. It was a well known fact to the other wrestlers living on the farm. Dave Schultz was killed because he had an affair on his wife. JED didn't like that nor did he like Dan Chaid having a baby out of wedlock. Everyone needs to comb through all the details. John dupont's hair was tested and he was not on drugs. JED never had a set of balls after 10 years old because he fell off a horse. JED was milked for money by Andre Metzger. That is a fact ask ANY of his Oklahoma teammates that were also Foxcatchers. John DuPont was definitely not ever a gay. Nobody ever came forward and said they had a gay relationship with JED BECAUSE IT NEVER HAPPENED. JED drinking in the 90s? It hardly ever happened. So look into it a little bit more this is the real deal story whether you want to agree with it or not.

Rock "WHAT DOES SMOKE STREAM PERMEATE YOUR HEAD" mean?? I am fortunate in being o negative blood "BLUE BLOOD" from Alsace Lorraine & chose not to get vaccinated. Most clinical trials are 10-14 years not 1. You have seven systems of the body. Six systems protect 1 system and it's called IMMUNITY. Sleep 8 hours a night take your vitamins, drink/eat fruits vegetables & do breathing exercises first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Like I said prior my weight is skyrocketing in a good way because I parlay all day by only eating from the cow (Greek Yogurt & Beef). The definition of exercise is stretch & compress. I eat only solid food at night in order for my blood to stay circulating around the body instead of digesting food making me tired during the day. |

Amazing job you have to give David Taylor and Cael Sanderson just incredible amount of credit for getting the job done exceeded expectations both deserve a raise or at least a bonus of some sort Thomas Gilman an extremely important bronze medal victory. Cody & Casey Cunningham certainly need to be lauded as perhaps the dark horses of international coaching

Abdurakhmanov wins 74kg Bronze, another NLWC medal. Looks like they have something going on up at Mount Nittany!
NLWC sent 5 to Tokyo and 4 came home with medals. Gomez, eliminated by Abdurakmanov, was the only wrestler to miss.

There was a woman that also trained at the NLWC. I think they said she's studying to be a doctor. It got glossed over rather quickly when she was wrestling. She was from one of the Latin American countries. ------------- Win or lose, do it with class! |

Specifically speaking on Cael Sanderson's reign as head coach at Penn State I for one am somewhat befuddled on how CS was able to accomplish what he has accomplished during The Firestorm of a "Scary Jerry Drama." Joe Paterno was 100% guilty in not reporting the incident directly to the police. It's sickening to a lot of people. However, the fact is Joe Pa is a Brooklyn New York native and educated in those schools matriculating to Brown another non Pennsylvania state. Jay Paterno's coaching ability was very suspect from the start to be in his father's chain of command coaching situation. Joe Paterno's legacy or allegiance will be judged not solely based upon his time at PSU. Take a step back & ask yourself a couple of bucks. #1 Who were Joe Paterno's coaches growing up? #2 Where is Joe Paterno's wife from? An accurate datum is formed by which your taking the entirety of the persons life into focus to comprehend why a person would decide to do what Joe did but no matter the situation imho Joe Pa is not a morally & ethically sound individual and that is fact. Cael Sanderson's lifestyle in the way he leads himself as a role model while in the public eye should be commended. CS was able to compartmentalize his coaching over any of the other chaos going on was quite remarkable. In the end of his illustrious life for prosperity purposes what CS accomplished will likely be judged as simply amazing. Would Dan Gable have done the same job with a "Sandusky Sized Whirlewind?" Very odd lastly the Sandusky Family is allowed any sort of platform to express their side of the story. |
