Congrats to new Hatboro-Horsham Head Coach Jason Gribschaw (H-H Alumni 2001) and Patrick Chapman (H-H Alumni 2021) Girls Head Coach!  Coach Gribschaw returns to H-H as the head coach in 2024-25 after stepping in late last season to assist the Wrestling Warriors.  He was a long time (2006-2009 & 2010-20017) assistant coach at H-H under then Head Coach Glenn Kaiser (H-H Alumni 1983), who also returns to assist as the Associate Head Coach.

Congratulations. That program needs an overhaul. A piece of advice, whatever the last guy did, do the opposite. Go out and beef up that schedule. Good luck to these young bucks.

Does that mean not attending their own tournament, "The Wetzel"?

That tournament has not been very competitive over the past few seasons. Since they host the event, they have the ability to try to beef up the competition. Many years ago I heard Council Rock could not travel to the top tournaments, such as Ironman, Beast, Powerade, so they decided to bring the competition to them. They created Escape the Rock out of the need to get their guys competition.

It's unfortunate that the previous coach stayed on for so long.  I believe it deterred many teams from participating in the tournament. There’s certainly potential for attracting better competition, and I’m curious whether this tournament has ever truly been regarded as a challenging one.

With the new coach coming in, it will be interesting to see if there are any new approaches or insights that might shed light on the program. They have some talented wrestlers whose skills might be going to waste so I’m hopeful that the changes will benefit them.

While I agree with you about the previous coach, the best wrestler on their team last year was a state champ. I think the program is just turning in the right direction and the change comes at a great time. I wouldn't say the top talent is/was going to waste.

I think if you go back 5-10 years the Wetzel was regarded as a competitive tournament at least locally. In recent years however it has fallen off noticeably.

Having a solid coach is so important for keeping talent as you mentioned. Many people would be upset if someone with the talent of Morrison were to transfer to a Malvern or FCA but with many kids in a situation with poor coaching and opportunities, can you really blame them?

Congrats to HH for doing the right thing by their athletes, boy and girls!
