2016 Ohio TofC Registration
Registration continues for 24th Ohio Tournament of Champions, to be held April 23, 2016, at the Columbus Convention Center, in Downtown Columbus, OH. This year's event is expected to draw nearly 3000 wrestlers, ages 6 thru 50, and representing 30+ states.

Recently named one of the Big Three events, 27 of last year's NCAA Division I All Americans were former TofC participants, headlined by 4X NCAA & 6X Ohio TofC Champion Logan Stieber. The TofC is also the event where Kyle Dake and David Taylor first met in competition.

HOW TO QUALIFY
To see how to qualify, as well as view the various qualifying exemptions, you can visit the event website by visiting: http://www.ohiotofc.com and clicking on "Qualifying Events."

If you need help with the registration process, click on "Tournament Information" and then "How To Register."

NATIONAL CLUB & TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
New this year is the National Team & Club Championships. While still an Individual Tournament, awards will be determined on the basis of the individual place finishes of the competing wrestlers. There will be four categories, of which to enter a Team/Club, and awards will be presented to the top 3 in each category.

Award value will be as much as $1500 and includes free wrestling clinics (we would pay to transport the clinician in to your location), free camps, free wrestling gear (up to $1500 worth), free Defense Soap, free Flo Pro memberships and more.

Clinicians include: Gene Mills, Wade Schalles, Randy Lewis and many more.

For more information on this, as well as a list of the various awards to be given (including a complete current list of the clinicians we are working with), click on "Tournament Information" and then"Club & Team Competition." Teams/Clubs entering are also eligible to receive one free entry, per each 10 paid entries. More information on this can be found by clicking the link above.

Note: There will also be a Team Title in the Open Division, but no major awards will be presented.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
This year's individual awards will be custom 50"x60" blankets, with the individual's place finish added to them. First thru third place awards will be silk plush (the real soft ones) and 4th thru 8th will be fleece. (Open Division 4th thru 6th). As is tradition, all Champions will also receive a custom wrist watch. To see photos of the awards, visit: https://ohiotofc.com/page/10-highlights

Win FREE Clinics (Mills, Schalles, Randy Lewis, etc), $1500 in Gear, Disney Duals Entry Fee and more

That's right, your Team/Club can earn Free Wrestling Clinics, from some of the top wrestlers in the country (see list below), up to $1500 in free wrestling gear, free camps, free Flo Pro memberships, $500 worth of Defense Soap, Free Disney Duals Team Entry Fee and more. How?

Enter your Team/Club into this year's Ohio Tournament of Champions (www.ohiotofc.com), April 23, in Columbus.

This nice thing is that you don't have to try to fill a dual meet roster. You have 90 Ages/Weight Division in which to enter your wrestlers at and you can enter multiple wrestlers at each. Depending on the category you enter, will determine how many wrestlers will be able to score points for your team, but you do not have to designate them. We will score the top ones for you, based on the wrestler's place finish.

Plus, wrestlers that are a member of a Team/Club who enters the competition, they do not need to otherwise have to worry about qualifying.

Is your School Team, or Club Team, one of the tops in the Midwest? Now is your chance to prove it.

Here are some additional details:

***TofC will remain an individual event. However, there will be a greater emphasis placed on the Team Competition aspect (see below for more details). Entering as a team will allow wrestlers to bypass other means of qualification. Those entering as individuals will still need to meet some level of qualification.

***Along with the major team awards we are working on, individual awards will still be given out to the top 8 (top 6 in the Open Division) place finishers in each weight class.

***We will still provide for mats for those wrestlers who go two and out, so that they can receive some additional matches, if they so choose.

TEAM & CLUB COMPETITION

While still an Individual Event, wrestlers will be able to declare the team/club they represent. Also, any wrestler that is entering as a member of a participating club or team, does not have to meet any other qualification standards. Wrestlers entering the event as Unattached (not representing a participating club, or team, must still meet qualification standards - see below)

These clubs/teams will be divided into four categories, based on type and size. Based on their individual place finish, wrestlers will then score points and the top three clubs/teams in each division will win major prizes.

Basically, this is how it will work. A Coach (or Team Designee) will go to our site (www.ohiotofc.com) and sign up his Team/Club. There will be a fee to register as a Club or Team, ranging from $40-100 (this fee is discounted thru March 10). Once registered, the Coach/Designee will be given a code. This individual can then proceed to enroll each of the athletes to his roster, or provide his wrestlers with the code, for when they sign up. The Coach will also have the ability to easily send out an e-mail, to all his wrestlers and parents, with this code in it.

As the wrestlers enroll, they will select their Club/Team, during the registration process. If their Coach has yet to set up his account, wrestlers will be able to log back in, once the account has been set up, to indicate their selection. Coaches (or the Team Designee) will also be able to monitor who has signed up, paid and what weight class they are at.

While the family discount for wrestlers is still in effect, if one individual enrolls all the individuals for their club/team, AND pays for them in one payment, then they will also receive one additional FREE entry for each 10 paid individuals (a $70 savings).

***Open Division wrestlers (those who are no longer in High School), will count towards the total number of wrestlers, but the Open Division will not earn points towards the Club/Team Competition. HOWEVER, we will have a separate Team Competition for the Open Division, but there will be no major awards given. Open Division Teams will need to submit a roster, to the head table, prior to wrestling starting on Saturday morning. The roster needs to include: Team Name, Contact Name, Contact Address, Phone and E-Mail) and a list of the team's wrestlers and their weight class.

Coaches will NOT have to designate their point scorers. The top X number of place finishers (see below) will score points for their club/team. Point scorers can be spread throughout all 90 of the age/weight categories.

Head Coaches of all registered Clubs & Teams will receive a special gift (1 per club/team)

The Divisions and maximum amount of point scorers are as follows:

Division IV - Small School Team (maximum of 8 point scorers): all wrestlers must be from the same school district. This Division requires a $40 Team Registration Fee ($20 thru March 10).

Division III - Large School Team (maximum of 15 point scorers): all wrestlers must be from the same school district. This Division requires a $60 Team Registration Fee ($30 thru March 10).

Division II - Small Club Team (maximum of 22 point scorers): all wrestlers must be active members of that club, or from a localized area. This Division requires an $80 Team Registration Fee ($40 thru March 10).

Division I - Large Club Division (maximum 30 point scorers): all wrestlers must be active members of that club, or from a 50 mile radius. *This Division may include State Teams from those states who are deemed to be of sufficient distance, in order to warrant their inclusion in this category. Based on location and past TofC participation, the following states would not be eligible for State Competition category, if it is used: OH, PA, MI, NY, NJ, IN, WV, MA, GA, TN, IL, MO and VA. This Division requires a $100 Team Registration Fee ($50 thru March 10).

*The Tournament reserves the right to add a Division I-A, which would cover State Teams, but would not be applicable to the above mentioned states. Wrestlers from the states listed above need to fit into one of the other Divisions.

There should also be NO need for any club/team, in Division I-IV to try to "recruit" wrestlers who are not from their school district, or active participants of their club (active means practicing with the club on a regular basis and does not refer to having represented the team at events) as coaches have 90 age/weight categories to draw their wrestlers from.

Clubs/Teams found to be in violation of "recruiting" outside wrestlers will not be eligible for the Club/Team awards. Wrestlers may represent, and earn points, for one team/club only.

CLUB & TEAM AWARDS
Note: We are working at adding even more possible awards to the ones listed below. Only one of each type of award will be given in each Division. The First Place team will select their award, then the second and then the third.

Points will be earned as follows:
1st Place: 20 points
2nd Place: 16 points
3rd Place: 12 points
4th Place: 9 points
5th Place: 7 points
6th Place: 5 points
7th Place: 3 points
8th Place: 1 point

In the event of a tie, the club/team with the most 1st placer finishers will take first. If still tied, then we will go to most 2nd place finishers and so on. If they are still tied after going thru all the places, the team that entered the most wrestlers will receive the first place award. If still tied, then duplicate awards will be given.
