152 is the most balanced weight class in the district: Two good guys from both the PPL and PCL. I'll go with O'Toole, but if he is overwhelmed by Khochiashvili stylistically, I could see it going the other way. Not sure with Pennington and Noorchashm: flip a coin.
Also, 182 IMO is gonna be good to see. It's definitely not a strong weight class going into regionals, but I think it will be very competitive and fun to watch for our district. |

106 could be an interesting final - Logue is tough but Brooks can give him a good match, this is not a guarantee for Logue.
126, Logue has the advantage. Im excited to see Petroski vs Logue, he did not quit all tournament last week, just kept coming back and wrestling tough. Davon looked great as well. 132 is a mystery if Weinberg is out. 138 looks like it will be the same top three from pubs but they might not go in that same order. 145 Swift beat Luchko last time but he is an interesting wrestler, this could be a fun final. 152 should be Grigol vs O'Toole in the finals. But the semi finals could be great as well. 182 is a mystery but Aldo looks really good. 195 Colbourne has the advantage. He just looks so big at this weight. Overall, I can see the public league gets 6 -10 champions. (also this is assuming a good bit) |

220 is interesting - Mininger is undefeated but only 10 matches. Orantes vs Davenport might be the best first round match of the tournament. Same with Lage vs Dofilis looks interesting.
HWT has Tilghman, who looks big and strong. Hes not a 'full heavyweight' but making the move up to hwt looks like it was the right decision for him |

My top 4 predictions:
106: I like Logue over brooks anyday. Dooley vs otoole rematch again. dooley looked much more dominating in his win. I like him here Logue Brooks Dooley Otoole 113: Repeat of the PCL finals. Horger wrestled well. I like Iulinao again but Horger could easily surprise with a win. Not a deep weight class though so I like edwards in for third against ghafary Iuliano Horger Edwards Ghafary 120: I think this is the most variable weight class in terms of the way it can go. I personally like marchesano over williams and santana over guinan. Either could be different. I think Marchesano edges Santana in the finals and I like guinan over williams in third. Marchesano Santana Guinan Pabon-Williams 126: Logue will again run away with this one. McFarlin should lose in the finals. Braddock guinan for third could be interesting but I think braddock runs away with it Logue McFarlin Braddock Guinan 132: If Wienberg wrestles, I dont think this weight is deep enough to have anyone beat him. With that said, it should be PCL vs PCL for first and PPL vs PPL for third. I like Gordon for third but I wouldnt be surprised if Asia won Wienberg (I bet he wrestles) Scalen Gordon Asia 138: This weight belongs to the PPL. Im going to predict the same 1,2,3 as the PPL placers with leonard sneaking in for 4th Diaby Copeland Garcia Leonard 145: Perhaps the WEAKEST weight in the district. Swift should dominate a shallow weight. The rest of the wrestlers should fall into place. Swift Luchko Parker Johnston 152: As said before I think this may be the deepest weight in the district. I personally dont think Khochiashvili beats otoole in the finals but it could happen. For third Im going with Noorchashm but Pennington could also easily win. Otoole Khochiashvili Noorchashm Pennington 160: Kidwell should win this wieght. I was kind of confused why all the PPL 152s bumped to 160. I figured it was because of Khochiashvili/Pennington. REgardless I think ragsdale beats on the weaker wrestles from the PCL. I also like singleton over vespe for third. Similar wrestling style but i think singleton wins this one. Kidwell Ragsdale Singleton Vespe 170: No question it will be a repeat of last year with garcia as champ and spicer runner up. I like Marrone over mesa for third as he beat him twice at the PCLs Garcia Spicer Marrone Mesa 182: This is another very variable weight class. SHould be a good one. I like the way Beqiraj has been wrestling lately and I think he beats out Kuzy in the finals. Kuzy could surprise though. Bony over Alicea for third. Beqiraj Kuzy Bony Alicea 195: I think that the finals is pretty much cemented with Colbourne beating Buffert. I really dont see it going any other way. third and fourth could go so many different ways but I think it will be Shamanow vs Skowronek with Shamanow coming out on top. Colbourne Buffert Shamanow Skowronek 220: Mininger impressed last week and he should repeat in a weak 220 PPL field. I think that the PCL top 3 hold true with Dofilis coming in 4th for the PPL Mininger Orantes Fisher Dofilis 285: Sorry to say the PCL stands no chance here. Tilghman wins easily. I like sow as the runner up with a rodriguez vs sow third placer math. I like Sow in this match Tilghman Sow Rodriguez Most Excited Weights: 120 138 152 160 182 Weakest Weights: 113 132 (especially without wienberg) 145 285

My takes on your takes @pmacsters
106: The PCL always has weird matchups but I'm going to the O'Toole camp on this one. I'm thinking the result of that second match is a sign of things to come and not a Dooley fluke. Could be def wrong on it though.
120/126: I have 120 Guinan over Santana and Braddock over 126 Guinan. 132: Agreed if Weinburg wrestles. If he does not, which by the day is looking less likely (that he wont), I have Scalen, Gordon, Asia, Pescatore, Comstock as the top 5. Comstock/Pescatore is an toss up for the last ticket to regionals if Weinburg wrestles. If you're into that kind of battle, that's one to watch. 182: Best has been one of the weirdest wrestlers to date. But assuming he puts the work in this week he could really make noise. Def have him in the top 4. And honestly if you look at how he wrestled 2 years ago I'd pick him as the favorite. This year it seems hes clawing his way back in. 195: Bayer is not a guy to discount this week. Although I have him as a 5th for now, it wouldn't amaze me to see him higher. Since you did not mention 5th placers, I'd figure I'd fill them out for you: 106: Gadia 113: Ghafary ( I have Barth taking 4th) 120: Baker 126: Conlen 132: Pescatore 138: Leonard (I have Reufuss taking 4th) 145: Bryd 152: Ramos 160: Rhyne 170: Owusu 182: Ford 195: Bayer 220: Dofilis (I have Lage 3rd/4th) 285: Hyllamoor Edited by YoungBuck42 - Feb 18 2020 at 8:30pm |
