Will all of those kids be eligible for the post-season?

I believe with the new rules which have been established, none of them will be eligible for the post-season. Is this correct?

Hmm. Very interesting Baby, I thought the rules only disallowed seniors from partaking in atheletics. In any case, shouldn't Eck and Pisarchuk be eligible for next year?

As far as the prompt is concerned, the extra bit will help but personally I feel they're still a ways off from being top D1 team competitors. Should the new talent serve as good role models, and the coaching staff stay committed, it could be in their future.

Is it considered a transfer if your parents decide they cannot afford to pay for a Catholic education anymore and you are now attending the public school where you reside? Also does Bensalem even have a head coach yet?

EAS - its gonna be hard to argue that, when the most of the Wood team is transferring back to their local public schools immediately after the previous coach stepped down and the search for a new one is still underway

Regardless of when the transfer occurs, it seems like a pretty easy argument to make when you are asked to pay around $10,000 to attend a high school. Any truth to the rumors that the Wood administration are discussing the possibility of not having a wrestling team this season? How would that affect any transfer eligibility? As with a home schooled student, could a student attend Wood and still wrestle for his local pubic school if the school does not have a team?

If wood offers basketball or any other sport during the winter for boys to play then no they would not be allowed to wrestle for their public school.

Its unknown whether they'll have a team or not, theres an effort to preserve it, but the head coach has stepped down and taken a significant amount of staff with him. Add to that the fact the administration already had to deal with this back in 2011-2012 means they're probably willing to pull the plug. We'll see.

I thought the Private/Catholic School to PIAA Public transfer was basically Exempt from the restriction associated with transferring...are the new rules more prescript then in the past?

RadDad- I could be wrong, but I thought those rules only applied to schools that did not participate in PIAA, such as private schools that participate in the National Prep League.
It is a bad situation for those kids, but I believe PIAA was trying to put a stop to kids transferring back and forth for athletic reasons.
IMO, let them participate in tournaments throughout the season, but the post-season is something that needs to be policed and enforced. Something needs to be done to put a stop to this. If this stuff is allowed, the kids can transfer when they believe their chances are better by moving to a different district or region.
As you can tell, I am personally not a fan of the amount of transferring that has taken place , but who am I.

Hopefully kids stay put more, then. I know MCTuna ain't gonna like that because it might affect his St. Joe's Prep and BECAHIs (spoiler, it won't), but we can hope.

I do not like it at all... not because it affects a school but kids and families. As a libertarian I think governing bodies should stay out of families choices for their kids! There are always unintended consequences for these asinine rules! SJP and BECHI won’t be effected anyway. Kids will be! Considering that athletics can be just as important to education for some students as the academic side... IMOP sports motivates, provides structure, helps student athletes take responsibility and work hard to achieve goals... if combined properly they help young men and women to be held accountable for their academics and behavior!
What if parents move out of a bad school district to a better school district... nope your screwed, you can not play sports! What is parents decide to sell their home in the city and move to the suburbs for a better quality of life... nope not allowed! What if a kid is having a ton of social anxiety in a particular school and leaves to go for a new start... nope screw her! What if a family says we are not happy with paying 11k- 25k a year to go to O’hara Or SJP and want our child to go to Ridley... F that kid! What if a family for religious reasons or moral reasons wants to send their kid to a religious school... tooooooo Bad!
We could go on all night... It is total BS!

I think the point is that if a student is experiencing any of those issues, they can freely transfer between schools. The piaa isn’t stopping those students from attending school where they want- only their athletic participation
