ROCKY MOUNT, VA   The #14 York College wrestling squad capped a fantastic weekend with a second place finish at the NCAA Division III Southeast Regional in Rocky Mount, Virginia on Saturday. The Spartans totaled 133 points, finishing second to Messiah as the Falcons won the regional crown with 147 points.

The Spartans finished the tournament with two champions as Dylan Nuttall and Greg Warner earned individual titles. Four other Spartans will join Nuttall and Warner in Cleveland as Eric HutchinsonJoe SindoniFrankie Krauss and Hasan Alic each earned their way to the national championship tournament. The six qualifiers tie the 1996 Spartans for the most qualifiers in school history.

125: Junior Dylan Nuttall got the Spartans started off right on Saturday with his win over Gettysburg's Lenny Ogozalek in the 125-pound semifinals. Nuttall notched an 8-1 decision to earn his way to the championship bout. Nuttall then faced off against second seed Kordell Rush from Delaware Valley. The match was close but Nuttall earned a 2-0 win to earn his first regional crown. Nuttall, who battled injuries most of this year, improves to 11-3 for the year. His berth in the NCAA championship will be his first trip to the National Championships.

149: Junior Greg Warner earned his first regional title but third NCAA Championship berth as he ran rough shod over the 149-pound field. Warner advanced to the championship match with an 11-3 major decision over Wilkes' Josh Evans. He then completed his championship journey with a 5-2 win over Messiah's Stephen Maloney in the championship bout. Warner enters the national tournament with a record of 29-3 and a 21-match win streak. He will also look to become a three-time All-American as he did the trick as both a freshman and a sophomore at the championship meet.

157: Freshman Eric Hutchinson concluded a stellar tournament as he finished second at 157 pounds. Hutchinson earned a berth in the championship match with a tight 3-2 win over top-seeded Hadyn Swartwood from Lycoming College. He advanced to face Messiah's Kevin Edwards and the Falcon was about to outlast Hutchinson 6-3 to earn the weight class championship. Hutchinson is now 19-9 and moves on to his first national championship tournament.

174: Junior Joe Sindoni earned his first NCAA Tournament berth as he recorded a third place finish at 174. Sindoni dropped a 6-0 decision to Lycoming's Brandon Conrad in the semifinals but bounced back to record two wins for the third place finish. In the consolation semifinals, Sindoni blanked Greensboro's Tyron Dudley 6-0 to move to the consolation finals. Sindoni then downed Ferrum's Blake Rosenbaum 4-1 to secure third place and the berth in the national tournament. Sindoni heads to the national tournament with a mark of 14-5.

184: Junior Frankie Krauss had a disappointing start to the day as he lost in double overtime riding time criteria in the semifinals as Johns Hopkins' Isaac Morales. Krauss responded in championship fashion as he edged Washington & Lee's Rexx Hallyburton 3-1 in overtime. He then completed the comeback with a 5-4 win over Penn State Behrend's Jake Paulson to earn his first trip to the national tournament. Krauss heads to Cleveland with a record 28-5 for the Spartans.

197: Senior Hasan Alic capped the great day for the Spartans with a third place finish at 197 pounds. Alic started the day with a tough 5-0 loss to top seeded Kyle Koser from Messiah but he responded great in the consolation bracket. Alic earned a berth in the consolation finals with a win by fall against Penn State Behrend's Jacob Parsons. He then earned his spot in the national tournament with a pin win over Pennsylvania College of Technology's Jared Mooney in the consolation final. Alic earned his consolation semifinal pin in 3:52 then notched his next pin in 1:46. Alic heads to the national championship with a record of 21-11.

York had two more wrestlers compete on Saturday. Sophomore Jackson Drum lost to Ferrum's Andrew Tolbert in the semifinals of the 165-pound class. He bounced back with win by fall in the consolation semifinals but lost to Gettysburg's Colin Kowalski in the consolation semifinals as he narrowly missed out on his first NCAA Tournament berth.

Sophomore heavyweight Stefanos Karpontinis started off his day with a 4-1 win over Washington & Lee's Matthew Kaminer to earn his way to the consolation semifinals. Karpontinis then earned a 6-1 win over Kings' Ralph Bernardo to advance to the consolation finals. Karpontinis then had his season ended by Southern Virginia's Nico Ramirez as Ramirez earned a 7-3 to earn a spot in the national tournament.

Up Next: The six Spartans will head to Cleveland, Ohio for the NCAA Division III National Championship tournament. The tournament will be held on March 9 and 10 in the Cleveland Public Auditorium in downtown Cleveland. Great work by the York guys, congrats on Eric's excellent performance! A practice injury cut my son's season short just before conferences. Good luck to all at Nationals!
