Another pretty incredible stat, this one on Cole Smith. Before forfeiting out of the tournament, the Spring-Ford senior was 34-1 with 17 pins. In the other matches not determined by fall or forfeit, he was 12-1 and outscored opponents 103-6 in those bouts. In those 12 wins by decision/major/tech, he only gave up 1 point in 2 of those matches.

What happened? I believe he was on the mat when the power went out. I think his match was one that would have been continued on Saturday once power was restored. Tough nut to swallow, being a senior and so close to advancing.

Gus the 107 Smith was on the mat when the power went out. No idea if Cole planned to wrestle that night, but he looked very unhappy after his first match despite winning easily.

Thank you for that. There was so much going on, it was hard to keep track.
I was surprised to see the forfeit posted Saturday morning.

I’m just wondering why someone who made it that far would not want to continue to see how far they could get.
