Topic: The Jet's Annual States Predictions Posted: Mar 08 2023 at 7:42am |
The Jet has long been lauded for his eloquent prose, his splendid diction, and his ability to tap into the human soul via written word. Beings galaxy-wide and far beyond have celebrated his florid scripture for centuries.
Lately, though, people aren't in the mood to celebrate. They'd much rather gripe and fault-find. Take a look at the following small sampling of gripes the Jet has received via email just in the last few months:
Hello there Jet, it's not fair that Faith Christian, a team comprised of recruited 17-year old freshmen, gets to compete against teams with rosters limited by school district boundaries. Would you suggest that I complain about it every chance I get on a wrestling forum? Can you talk to the PIAA?
What up Jet? And what's up with that Joe and Glenn broadcast team? Who's play-by-play and who's color? Could they maybe figure out their roles for next season? I see Glenn as the wacky Madden-esque color to Joe's straight man play-by-play.
Wazzzuppp Jetski, why do my apostrophes and dashes still turn into a string of Greek hieroglyphics when I post to the forum from my phone? Do you think you could convince Mike to finally get around to fixing that glitch one of these days?
Hiya Jet, is there anything worse than sitting next to obnoxious Council Rock South fans at a tournament? I don't know what's worse, their incessant clamoring for stalling calls or the fact that the refs seem to be influenced by their jeers.
Yo Jet, what the hell are the high school out of bounds rules? It doesn't seem like any refs or coaches know, so I thought if there's one person who could clear it up, it'd be the Jet.
hey jet 2 many wrds 4 me
jet < wrds
jet, no like rd
jet u write 2 much
jet u being xtra
jet ur writing sux, 2 long
As you can see, dear reader, a trend emerged, and the Jet realized he had committed a violation. The Jet had been writing War and Peace for a generation that has the attention span of a gnat. He had been forcing Ulysses upon a group that wants information in 150 characters and 15-second clips. The Jet had become egregiously self-indulgent. The Jet had forgotten his loyal audience. Well, no longer. The Jet has heard you, feeble-minded Millennials and Gen-Z'ers. The Jet will be pandering to your mushy brains and non-existent intellect. The Jet will be limiting his analysis for each weight class to 17 syllables.
Now await, devoted reader, and see how much analysis the Jet can pack into a haiku, written to be consumed by someone, at a glance, while they simultaneously scroll through MySpace, watch Stranger Things, and care for an infant.

The people on this forum may disagree on many things such as: Malvern holdbacks Malvern what is stalling? Malvern Faith Christian getting rid of weight classes and of course Malvern But one thing we can all agree on is that the Jet's annual predictions is a highlight of the season.

Another BECA freshmen sensation wins in dominant fashion
1st- Dillard, BECA 2nd- Sirianni, Abington Heights 3rd- Sloboda, Butler 4th- Martinelli, Pennridge 5th- Mizenko, Canon-Mac 6th- Nelson, Ridley 7th- Beard, Central Dauphin 8th- Weaver, Altoona
Jackson's Take: When Dillard was born I took an aerosol can and sprayed its contents all over his nursery three times a day. I could rest easy at night knowing that spray was doing its work, entering Dillard's lungs, infiltrating his bloodstream. If you are wondering about the contents of that aerosol spray, well, you've missed the point of this story.

Two vie for second title, McFarland scrambles for second medal
1st- Desmond, BECA 2nd- Williams, Manheim Twp. 3rd- Wagner, Northampton 4th- Willochell, Latrobe 5th- Kapusta, Franklin Regional 6th- Sallot, Erie McDowell 7th- McFarland, Haverford 8th- Cook, West Scranton
Jackson's Take: I once promised Desmond that when he turned 18, I'd take him to his first bar. He commented that the drinking age is 21, not 18. For insubordination, I made him hit 20,000 consecutive standups with a very dense pearl on his back. That pearl was only the size of a marble, but it was so dense that it weighed three tons. How a pearl gets to be that dense, well, that's a complex matter of intense pressure at extreme depths of the sea. Why, it would take an oceanographer hours to explain the complexities of the density of that tiny pearl. I don't know if Desmond got a single standup off with that pearl on his back, but boy was he curious about how such a tiny pearl could weigh so much.

Last D1 team with two champs, Upper Perk, '06 Could QTown do it?
1st- Ziegler, QTown 2nd- Nasdeo, Will-port 3rd- Horvath, Beth Freedom 4th- Garcia, Wilson 5th- Wagner, Northampton 6th- Tocci, Warwick 7th- Houser, Danny Boone 8th- Klingensmith, Kiski
Jackson's Take: One day Ziegler challenged me to a game of backgammon. I gladly accepted, before realizing I didn't know how to play backgammon. I faked it for as long as I could, before erupting and flipping the game board over, crying, "You call this a backgammon board!" Later, Ziegler and I drilled shrugs and it was almost as if the backgammon incident had never occurred, and maybe it hadn't.

Egret says Vinny wins third over tough Parkins Big Match Vinny Prevails
1st- Kilkeary, Latrobe 2nd- Parkins, Nazareth 3rd- Cunningham, State College 4th- Mack, Hempfield 5th- Binni, Canon-Mac 6th- Adams, York Suburban 7th- Sement, Rock North 8th- Fanelli, Easton
Jackson's Take: When Kilkeary was six, I took him to a remote field where I had dug two enormous holes, and gave him a choice: cobras or tigers? Kilkeary looked confused, so I repeated: cobras or tigers? He then noticed the two large pits and looked down into them. He saw that one pit was filled with stuffed cobras and one pit was filled with stuffed tigers. He laughed at the good joke and then leaped into the cobra pit where, gradually, the real venomous cobras began to come out of the stuffed animal shells. Now, Kilkeary staved off those cobras for hours with a variety of techniques, sustaining only a few dozen bites. Three days later, I intervened with some anti-venoms and got him out of that pit. Never take your opponent lightly, I told him, and he wondered if inside the stuffed tigers were real tigers too, but I guess he'll never know.

Depth, parity, who? quarters are fire replete with title contenders
1st- Simcox, Central Mountain 2nd- Shaw, TJ 3rd- Lebin, Hempfield 4th- McIntyre, BECA 5th- Sheridan, B-Town 6th- Bunting, Nazareth 7th- Myers, Wallenpaupack 8th- Ruggieri, Connellsville
Old Cougar's Take: Once in my youth coaching days, I was asked to put down my wrestlers' records for tournament seeding. Record? I said. Don't keep track. Seeding? I said. That's for pansies. When I submitted each wrestler's daily pushup log, all of my kids got last seed. Well boys, how about this I said, showing them their seeds. Let's go show them what we think of their seeding! Well, we took to those mats like soldiers to Normandy Beach. Most of them got pinned in the 1st period and their day was done. You see, that was before you pansies invented the consolation bracket.

Joe Youngblood's Take: At the end of the day, when the rubber meets the road, when push comes to shove, Gaj and Church are on a collision course. But Gaj is on a mission.

Equate wild hairstyle with funk, unorthodoxy Champ flows through Watters
1st- Watters, West All 2nd- Kapusta, Hempfield 3rd- Condomitti, Northampton 4th- Garvick, Central Dauphin 5th- Dailey, BECA 6th- Gautreau, Owen J 7th- Sipes, Altoona 8th- Duggan, Boiling Springs
Jackson's Take: One day I was bored and decided to train leeches in wrestling technique. We worked on ankle picks and misdirection and leg-riding. We even spent time on bar defense. Well, those leeches were fast learners and we quickly move to more advanced technique. As living things do, those leeches grew old and their suction ability declined and their appetite for blood diminished and their wrestling prowess wasn't what it once was. Sad really, the circle of life. I never got to attach those wrestling savant leeches to Watters' body. That was probably my original intent, but who remembers things like that.

I see the jet has Carroll making the medal stand. I had this as a D1 shutout. No Eli Carr?

Best pound-for-pound Welsh many vie to be takedown dummy in finals
1st- Welsh, Waynesburg 2nd- Furman, Canon Mac 3rd- Wheatley, Nazareth 4th- Olavarria, JP Mac 5th- McLellan, Stoga 6th- McFarland, Pottsville 7th- Myers, Central York 8th- Hogan, Pennridge
Jackson's Take: Once Welsh and I had an arm wrestling match that remained hopelessly deadlocked for 1,397 hours. There we struggled, as our own excrement piled up beneath us, but no one would budge. The movie The Hours is loosely based on this incident.

This weight was really hard to call after the top 3 with a group of about 10-12 who could earn low medals. The Jet likes the cut of Carroll's jib enough to give him 8th.
