Wow, this has to be a first. A kid with an 0-4 season record makes it to Districts.

You missed the 0-12 that also qualified.

That should not happen next year when you roll from sectional into the district/regional? Unless there's only a 4 man bracket at a sectional...

Super district --> regionals next year. No league championships as a postseason qualifier.

Poor #1 kid at 138... 1st match Lilly DW (hurt but top 10 ranked kid in State)! IDa thrown that ChesMont championship match if it was me

what, that is just a stupid comment, so everybody roll over. So the 1st place winner is null.

If Lilly truly is not healthy nothing is a given.

Well second part was tongue in cheek... i don’t think the point is stupid though... it is a bad matchup for the top seed, sort of sucks for anyone who is a top seed to get the bottom seed kid who is truly a top 10 state level wrestler. Now Injury is an X factor (hopefully he’s near 100%) but that’s a very difficult first match for top seed. Lilly has beaten some awesome wrestlers, he’s a hammer!

I hope he is and hope he continues to get more healthy in a run to States, he is one of the Districts better chances to place at states if he’s close to 100%.

Rechall is right, that will depend on the health.  And the bracket is pretty thin, the kid who probably will end up with the short end of the stick is the bottom half semi loser, but considering the how the bracket shapes up, I think it there is a high chance of the best 4 kids coming out.  That was probably a consideration in him defaulting out to 6th.  Unless he is really, really banged up I don't see that happening again because a poor seed at regionals could be a real problem.

Could not agree more. Really hope he gets to 100%. We are going to need him, because projecting ahead (obviously no brackets) I struggle to see us getting a lot of medals this year, unfortunately :(

Dave/Warrior,

Don't worry I have been working hard on this preview.  The plan is to finish brackets tonight, however neither The Jet or Mo have returned any of my calls or texts.  I was looking for some guidance in regards to the 126lb East Bracket....I guess I will resort to my old method, letting my daughters pick based on which school's colors they like better.

Joe,

From an East guy...Fuss, Beckett, Colella, Staul

I’ve seen everyone of these kids wrestle at least 10 times both HS and club. Very tough bracket but that’s a good bet on order.

Mr. Joe, I already have my regional predictions done my brother. You better up your ante or you're going to be known as Mo's cousin next year.

The Jet has been unavailable for consultation as he has been sequestered in his underground lair developing a full-proof new methodology for this year's states picks.

Sadly the East appears to be the lone district with any real compelling drama. Should be some good rematches in the finals of the other 2 though, and maybe some flipped results which will make the regionals bracket a little crazier than expected.

I would expect the PAC to dominate the Central and Ches-Mont to dominate the West. Delco is down I predict the majority of the finals from last week will be repeated in those districts.

The East has some very good potentially fresh finals matchups:
126, whoever makes it there, likely Fuss and another
Radner (or Williams)-Tamburrino
Robinson-Andrade
Widing-Erb
Stillings-Green (let's see what undefeated Bear can bring to the table)
Chapman-Verespy
Cody-Cooper

Change in the East:

At 152, Marcellus Martin (Abington, N-3) is out; N-4 moves up; Michael Molloy (Pennsbury) is the new N-4

I agree that the PAC will dominate the Central but disagree that the majority of finals will be repeats.

106 P-1 Vulakh vs. C-1 Hollingsworth I would consider likely
113 P-1 Kuhns vs. C-1 Lofland  possible
120 P-1 Meredith vs C-1 Hodges  lock
126 P-1 Quinn/P3-McGill vs C-1 Bagirov  possible
132 P-1 McNair vs. C-1 Lesser likely
138 P-1 Petrucelli vs. C-1 Stocku  lock
145 P-1 Vulakh  vs. C-1 O'Donnell likely
152 P-1 Mancini vs. C-1 Lledo Lock

I have to admit I do not have the familiarity with the upper weights to comment and I do realize that most if not all of these scenarios favor the PAC.  I just think there will be more fresh finals on Saturday than you predict.

Three additional changes in the Central tourney:

At 132, Tyler McCutchen (Owen J. Roberts, P-4) is out; P-5 and P-6 move up; Sean Cawley (Norristown) is the new P-6
At 160, Joey Milano (Spring-Ford, P-1) is out; all PAC qualifiers move up; Noah Miller (Pottsgrove) is the new P-6
At 195, Louis Carbajal (Spring-Ford, P-5) is out; P-6 moves up; Tommy Dempsey (Owen J. Roberts) is the new P-6

Anyone know what happened to Milano? I know McCutcheon was a victim of a slam in his 3rd/4th match last week and likely didn’t recover enough to go.

ZZZZzzzzz... wha?

Where's the fun if you can't laugh at Joe's sleepy picks?

Unfortunately with the late changes to a couple of the brackets, he had to redo a few of them for the preview.

Looking forward to a bunch of great tournaments this weekend.

Will have major regional bracket implications too, though both would be favored to meet in the finals again.

If Waterman gets revenge this week, he will be the No. 1 seed, with McBride 2 and Vulakh 3. If Hauserman wins, McBride will be No. 1, Vulakh 2 and Hauserman 3.

I am new to this post season format, and seeding. If Waterman wins, He will be #1, McBride #2, Vulakh #3. Does that mean Hauserman would go to 4th seed? And they would meet in the semis? That sounds like serious ramifications for States.

If Waterman wins and Hauserman takes 2nd, Hauserman will wrestle the 4th place kid from the West in the pigtail, assuming McBride wins that district. The winner there would get Vulakh.
