PIAA's statements on wearing masks during/attending Athletic competitions.  Will be interested to see how it plays out by the time wrestling season begins.  Looks like masks to be worn on the benches, corners, and in stands.

PRESS RELEASE – Mechanicsburg, PA – Friday, July 3, 2020

This afternoon the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) authored some FAQ’s for the recent wearing a face covering (mask) order signed by Secretary of Health, Dr. Rachel Levine on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. This action has created a number of questions for schools and their out of season voluntary workout programs.

PIAA Executive Director, Dr. Robert A. Lombardi stated, “We are tremendously appreciative of the Department of Health and the Department of Education for providing guidance and answers to the many frequently asked questions. This information will greatly assist PIAA member schools, their administration and staffs with the information needed to continue their voluntary, summer workout programs”.

The most requested questions recently are the following:

Does the Order apply to athletes and sports activities?
Yes. Everyone must wear a face covering, such as a mask, unless they fall under an exception listed in Section 3 of the Order.   Coaches, athletes and spectators must wear face coverings unless they are outdoors and can consistently maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet. Athletes are not required to wear face coverings while actively engaged in workouts and competition that prevent the wearing of face coverings, but must wear face coverings when on the sidelines, in the dugout, etc. and anytime 6 feet of social distancing is not possible.

Do schools need to update/amend their Health and Safety Plans if they have already been submitted to PDE?
Health and Safety Plans must reflect this Order. Understanding the volatility and uncertainty of the COVID‐19 virus, plans should be flexible enough to contemplate any future change in conditions.

Do updated/revised Health and Safety Plans need to be re‐approved by local school boards? Yes. While the Order must be implemented immediately, plan approval, if necessary, should occur at the next board meeting.

I wouldn't be surprised if the PIAA just packed it in for the year and make August 15 2021 next summer  as start of the high school sports. Pro sports college sports should follow suit. Let's just focus on academics at this point and make sure that takes top priority. It's unfortunate for the kids that are in school and people who like to watch  NCAA or pro but it seems to be the best thing to do at this point so at least people can settle in a focus on their families. Take fresh air walk or do breathing exercises instead or change activity sometimes good. If the flu of 2020 mimics the flu of 1918 pattern the second wave of this could even be worse. I would batten down the hatches follow protocol wear masks stay safe stay strong stay positive happy July 4th God bless 'merica.

As always (Maybe not always but often) PIAA is incoherent... wear masks on sideline or bench -is only way you are safe- but when playing directly across from someone on the soccer/football field, in their face During basketball/lacrosse Or crushing their face during wrestling... -you are safe without a mask! Are you serious. Make your decision and stick with it!

The actions of hypocrisy shows how political bodies suck! Almost like governor Wolf saying -Protests against me are bad and dangerous but those that I agree with are safe and worthwhile- or Trump saying Masks are no good and I like masks because I look like the Lone Ranger?!?!
Make a coherent argument and stick with it!

Mctuna, PIAA didn't say what you're accusing them of saying, and neither did Wolf.

Big PIAA meeting today about weight classes etc 103 113 123 133 143 153 163 173 183 hwt
My vote would be 10 weight classes 10 lb of part let the chips fall where they may.

Girls can have the same weight classes eventually everybody on the same page except having one style  Freestyle in order to engage the fan wrestling need to simplify as much as possible having one style will assist in that fluidity and comprehension of understanding the sport.
