Now that I’m done educating people on my post, I figure I’ll pop over here and lend my expertise. A lot of great matches today. We have a good bit of talent in the middle weights. I’m glad we got to see some of these matches. In addition, there were a lot of close team scores. Pennridge is build something over there. Kudos to them.

I am looking forward to the videos, because there was too much happening and it was not possible to see it all.
1. Colin Gaj is the PFP champ, so impressive all day. He completely neutralized Sadriddinovs offense, bumping up 2 weight classes. I missed his match against Kakos, but Kakos is clearly not 100%, saw him against Carr and then saw Carr 2 more times.
2. Pennridge is the best team in D1. This is the first day all year they used their entire lineup, and the surprise return of a kid that rumor had it had been kicked off the team in December (I guess not) was the biggest addition. Gave them that piece between Coffin and Kuhns they needed. They should represent D1 well out of the 1 seed.
3. OJR beating CRS was not a fluke. Their advantage at 189-HWT meant CRS could not slip up, and then they went down 8-0 in the first period in the first match (121 was a forfeit). Box score is wrong, that was Brandt / Bhatt at 127. OJR never used anyone at 121 all day, which had been typical this year, I assume CRS lost the toss and that is why Woloshyn accepted the forfeit.
4. Sun Valley had a strange day. The only match they used their full lineup in was PV. The coaching staff made a mess of the lineup against Pennridge, trying to use Strickland at 145 when he weighed in at 133, causing a huge delay and meaning Strickland does not wrestle in that match. They were not beating Pennridge, but the coaches let the kids down there. Voegel was clearly hurt when he wrestled. Having now seen Carr and AGW multiple times on the same day, AGW is better. The CRS match took forever, 189 alone had to be 20-25 minutes with constant stoppages.
5. Boyertown had the match won against CRS. South made a move that backfired at 133/139 and when they lost at 172 it looked like lights out. They won at 189 to stay mathematically alive and then Woloshyn proved he is the real deal closing that one out against Heimbach.
6. The right 4 teams made it out. That said, Sun Valley and OJR were both capable of getting out yesterday had the brackets fallen differently. Boyertown as well went 0-2 but won 6 matches in each dual against 2 teams that made it out. I think Pennridge is a really good champion and overall depth was outstanding this year. Made for a fun day.

Oh, and if I remember correctly all 3 videos will be Pennridge matches. There are good matches in all of those but there was more drama happening in other duals, curious to hear the commentary to see what they were able to stay aware of. I don’t think they were recording consi semis.

Crazy Gamble-Williams of Sun Valley was able to beat a Rock South wrestler, considering their schedules and different moralities of the coaching staffs.

Yes. And I know just the place. A place where the beer flows like wine where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. A little place called Aston.

Keep you lame, uneducated posts to my thread. This guy obviously wants to have real wrestling talk here. Don’t derail his post.

I was surprised to see SF get the seed that they did. No disrespect intended. Their schedule was not as rigorous as others, in my opinion. The tournament in Bethlehem was tough without a doubt but their finish was not where it needed to be to earn that fourth seed. Their other tournaments did not seem to have competition as challenging as the tournaments the others entered. I saw Sun Valley wrestle a few times, and thought they were technically superior to the teams in the PAC that I'd seen. Looking at the individual records, it also seemed that most of the opponents they faced had several athletes that moved beyond districts. Pennridge was on fire and deserved that win. Their guys were game on all day and well prepared. OJR did a good job too. A highlight was Carr scoring on Smith (not sure that has happened this year, except for an escape point or two). Growth shown there. I'm not sure what the debacle was during the CRS/SV match. It looked and sounded like a hot mess. I expected better from both teams in attitude and behavior, as I've always seen in the past. There were a number of instances, and not just from those teams, where I felt as if the honor and humbleness that is a part of this sport was lost through individual celebrations. No one goes out there to lose, but everyone should win and lose with the same grace. To the mom who was screaming obscenities when her son was injured...The crowd around you could have done without the excessive F bombs. It is never fun to see your kid get twisted like a pretzel and thrown like a rag doll. I'm sorry he was injured and I hope he will be ok.

sbm Just curious as to where you would have seeded sf given the hindsight of the results? They finished above their 4 seed and have wrestled 8 of the teams who were selected for the tournament. You cited some individual tournaments but while they can be used as a data point, they are not as valuable when talking about a team dual strategy. Overall, I saw a great day of wrestling. OJR had a great upset over CRS and some individual match ups in other duals were top notch matches. The only two debacles for me were the sv/Pennridge weigh in situation -whatever it was and I agree the crs/sv match was kind of nuts. Did not see any mom or parent for that matter yelling obscenities for their child being injured but if they did get a little to emotional we should give them a little grace. Hopefully you never have the experience of your child being injured and feeling helpless and hopefully the boy is okay. Great day of wrestling for District 1 and Congratulations and Good luck to the teams that made it through

I would put the CRS/SV uproar squarely on the official. It started to get out of hand at 152 after the aforementioned whirly bird (although it occurred just prior to an impending near fall and not a TD as the previous poster stated) and then 189 was an absolute debacle with a couple of UC's on the SV kid and one on the CRS kid. The 2nd UC on the SV kid and the reaction UC from the CRS kid both could have easily been flagrants.
Fortunately we have one of the top refs in the state in Mark Marino in our district and he headed over to assist the young guy during the 189 and got everything under control.
Of note, he also paused the Boyertown-CRS match he was reffing to get the SV-Pennridge weigh-in debacle squared away. We're lucky to have him reffing in our district.

Anyone know if a head scissor, with an arm in, is legal? I believe a body scissor is. Figure four is only legal on one of your opponents legs?

No, straight scissors on the head is illegal even with arm.
Figure 4 is illegal on the head, body or both legs.
Body scissor is legal.
