Based on the info we have at the moment, there are/were 14 teams with head coaching openings heading into this season.

The following coaches have been named:
  • Central Bucks South = Chris Meister
  • Great Valley = Bobby Lavelle
  • Harry S. Truman = Rich Voran
  • Marple Newtown = Arty Erle
  • Methacton = Tony Haley
  • Neshaminy = Frank Bing
  • Penncrest = Steve Resnick
  • Radnor = Justin Schellenger
  • Unionville = Todd Szewczyk
  • West Chester Rustin = Tony Finding (joins Brad Harkins as co-head coaches)
  • William Tennent = Joe Stabilito Jr.
The following schools still have openings:
  • Avon Grove
  • Bensalem
  • Boyertown
  • Pope John Paul II
Whenever we hear about any of these openings being filled or if there are others we missed that were open, I'll update this post.

There seems to be an unusually high amount of coaching turnover this year. Any explanation on why?
How can you expect to beat your opponent, when your not willing to outwork them?

Not sure.  Last year there were only 5 new coaches.  The year before there were 11 changes.

How far back do you have data on coaching changes?

Probably have the full list of D1 coaches for at least 10 years.  I'll check out how many coaching changes occurred for that time tonight.  I'm curious too if this many changes is a lot more than normal or just about right.

Here's what I found on District 1 coaching changes over the past few years (excluding schools that stopped having a team)...

All the numbers are heading into the listed season.

2011-12 = 6 changes
2012-13 = 7 changes
2013-14 = 13 changes
2014-15 = 14 changes
2015-16 = 7 changes
2016-17 = 11 changes
2017-18 = 11 changes
2018-19 = 5 changes
2019-20 = 14 changes

District 1 had between 67 and 72 programs during those seasons.

30 programs had no changes during this time.

3 programs had 4 different head coaches during this time.
